The Stonewall Awards is an annual event by Stonewall Equality Limited from 2006 to 2015 to celebrate people who have had a positive or negative impact on the lives of British lesbian, gay and bisexual people. The event was first held in 2006 at the Royal Academy and from 2007 were held at the Victoria and Albert Museum.
Ruth Hunt, CEO of Stonewall, announced that the tenth awards ceremony in 2015 would be the last one, explaining that the awards are no longer needed in the modern landscape.[1]

2012
The 2012 awards were held on 1 November,[6] with the award of "Bigot of the Year" to Cardinal Keith O'Brien drawing protest from the Catholic Church in Scotland,[7][8] of which he was head. Criticism of the bigot award from the winner of the Politician of the Year award, Ruth Davidson, lead to her being "booed off-stage".[9]
