The Brief Encounter was the name given to a bi-monthly series of open meetings organised by Croydon Area Gay Society. The meetings were originally held in a central Croydon pub called "The Brief",[1] hence the name, but this venue closed down suddently, and the meetings were then held in other Croydon premises. mainly the Spread Eagle, Katharine Street. The last meeting in the series was in February 2017; the series was then to be replaced by the "CAGS Monthly Meeting".[2]
