The Brief Encounter is the name given to the bi-monthly series of open meetings organised by Croydon Area Gay Society. The meetings were originally held in a central Croydon pub called "The Brief",[1] hence the name, but this venue closed down suddently, and the meetings are now held in other Croydon premises.
