Balham Station
Balham is a district in the London Borough of Wandsworth.

LGBT history

Rodney Ackland and Peter Katin went to school in Balham, Brian Paddick was born there, and Aslie Pitter was brought up there. Stephen K Amos was brought up in Balham and Tooting.[1]

In the 1970s Gay Sweatshop was based for a while at Drew Griffiths' house in Balham.

MCC South London held its services in Balham, and at one time had its own premises there.

Gaze is a monthly gay event at The Exhibit.[2]

Valentine's Hall, Endlesham Road, is a church distinguished by its specific outreach to lesbian, gay, bisexual, and transgender people and is the only one of its kind in south London. Reverend David Parry, 62, reported in April 2021, that the church was in danger of closing due to lack of funds. [3]
