Bangor University

Bangor is a city in Gwynedd, North Wales. Local institutions include its cathedral and Bangor University.

Not to be confused with Bangor, County Down.

LGBT history

Griff Vaughan Williams was born in Bangor in 1940.

A E Dyson was lecturing in Bangor from 1955.

In 1979 the Bangor W H Smith branch was picketed to protest at the firm's refusal to sell Gay News.[1]

Unity Bangor is the local students' LGBTQ+ society.

The Three Crowns had been a gay pub since 2003.[2] but was severely damaged by fire in March 2014 and thught unlikely to reopen.

North Wales Pride was held for the first time in 2012.
