Kenric is Britain's longest established lesbian organisation. It was founded in 1965, originally in London (the name derives from Kensington and Richmond). According to an article by Alison Hennegan in Gay News in 1978, Kenric grew out of Arena Three [1].

Today Kenric has a network of appointed volunteer local representatives running events in different parts of the country.

Kenric's records, detailing its history, are now lodged at the London Metropolitan Archive and as at September 2016 are in the process of being catalogued by Committee members.
