Manchester Metropolitan University was founded in 1970 as Manchester Polythechnic and became a university in 1992. Its main campus is at All Saints, to the south of Manchester city centre.

The University hosted part of the academic festival for LGBT History Month 2016.

Manchester Metropolitan University LGBT Society was a member of the LGBT Consortium in 2012.[1]
