North Yorkshire ceremonial county: 1 Selby 2 Harrogate 3 Craven 4 Richmondshire 5 Hambleton 6 Ryedale 7 Scarborough 8 City of York (Unitary) 9 Redcar and Cleveland (Unitary) 10 Middlesbrough (Unitary) 11 Stockton-on-Tees (Unitary) (the part south of the Tees)
The county council area comprises seven districts, including Scarborough and Harrogate; additionally the ceremonial county includes four unitary authorities: the City of York, Redcar and Cleveland, Middlesbrough, and part of Stockton-on-Tees.
North Yorkshire Police covers the county council area plus the City of York; however Redcar and Cleveland, Middlesbrough, and Stockton-on-Tees (which had all been part of the county of Cleveland since 1974) are covered by Cleveland Police.
