Maida Vale is a residential area in the north of the City of Westminster (formerly in the borough of Paddington. It contains many large blocks of mansion flats, as well as the "Little Venice" area on the Grand Union Canal.
LGBT history
Hardy Amies was born in Maida Vale in 1909.
Alan Turing was born in 1912 at 2 Warrington Crescent, where there is a blue plaque to him.
Siegfried Sassoon "met Edward Dent who had a flat in Maida Vale which was a popular area for gay men at the time."[1]
John Inman lived in a mews house in Little Venice for 30 years.[2]
Mary Portas lives in Maida Vale.[3]
