Police Scotland (official title the Police Service of Scotland) is the single police force covering all of Scotland from 1 April 2013.

It replaced the following forces, which were based on the previous regions and island areas:

Central Scotland Police
Dumfries and Galloway Constabulary
Fife Constabulary
Grampian Police
Lothian and Borders Police (covering the Lothian and Borders regions)
Northern Constabulary (covering the Highland region and the Western Isles, Orkney and Shetland island areas
Strathclyde Police
Tayside Police
Scottish Crime and Drug Enforcement Agency

In 2012 the Gay Police Association protested at the proposed issuing of bibles to Scottish police officers.^[1]
