The University of Liverpool was founded in 1881 as University College, Liverpool. In 1884 it became part of the federal Victoria University. It became an independent university in 1903. Its main campus is about five minutes walk from Liverpool City Centre,
LGBT societies
Liverpool Student Group was founded in January 1972, as a spin-off from the Liverpool CHE Group, for students at Liverpool University. It was recognised as a CHE group in March 1972.[1]
