Cardiff University (Welsh: Prifysgol Caerdydd) is a university located in Cardiff. It was founded in 1883 as the University College of South Wales and Monmouthshire. In 1893 it became one of the founding colleges of the University of Wales. It became an independent university in 2005. In 2021 University staff were faced by abuse and threats by trans activists [1] [2].

- ↑ In June 2021 15 members of staff at the University called on the University to withdraw from the Stonewall Diversity Champions scheme because of Stonewall's lack of academic freedom and over concerns for female staff and students. A counter letter was raised in support of the Stonewall scheme and criticising the 15 signatories as 'transphobic'.Threats and abuse to the 15 staff followed including damage to property. The University's response to the threats and abuse has been criticised as inadequate by the 15 staff and that the University failed to uphold its legal duty to secure freedom of speech.
