GIDS is the Gender Identity Development Service, part of the Tavistock and Portman NHS Trust in London. Founded in 1989, Gids was formerly the UK’s only dedicated gender identity clinic for children and young people. Following investigation into its procedures and some whistle blowing by former practitioners it has been forced to close in 2023 [1]. The impetus for the closure of GIDS was the review by Dr Hilary Cass [2].
