London Borough of Camden

From LGBT History Project

Camden is a London Borough, comprising the former boroughs of Holborn, St Pancras and Hampstead. It includes a number of districts, such as Camden Town, Kings Cross and Bloomsbury, plus parts of Covent Garden and the West End.

LGBT History

In 2010, Councillor Jonathan Simpson became Camden’s first openly gay mayor. He pledged to retain the “rock ‘n’ roll” spirit of Camden, a major landmark on Britain’s musical map. His Mayoress was Amy Lamé, broadcaster, writer and hostess of the south London gay club Duckie.[1]
