Caterham is a town in the Tandridge district of Surrey, comprising the older settlement of Caterham on the Hill, and the Caterham Valley area, now the main shopping centre, which developed after the opening of the railway line from Purley in 1856.
LGBT history
The pianist Peter Katin and the businessman Andrew Davis both went to school for a time in Caterham.
