Orpington Priory

Orpington is a town in the London Borough of Bromley, formerly in Kent.

In the Orpington by-election of 1962, Eric Lubbock won for the Liberals what had previously been considered a very safe Tory seat, heralding a revival of the Liberal Party. In 1971 the first World Romani Congress was held in Orpington.[1]

LGBT history

The writer Stevie Henden was born in Orpington in 1955.
