The Joiners Arms
The Joiners Arms is a gay pub in Hackney Road, Shoreditch, in the East End of London. It was taken over in 1997 by David Pollard,[1] who described it at that time as "the first new gay pub under a Labour Government".[2]

In 2014 it was announced that the pub would have to close at the end of its lease in January 2015. At the end of 2014 the Friends of the Joiners Arms was founded, with the aim of saving the pub. In 2017, Tower Hamlets council granted permission to develop the site on condition that the development should include a pub, to be run as an LGBTQI+ venue with a lease of 25 years, and with opening hours mirroring those of the original Joiners Arms.[3]
