New Forest is a local government district within Hampshire. Much of its area is occupied by the National Park of the same name, an area of open land originally created in Norman times as a hunting reserve.

LGBT history

King William II was killed by an arrow while hunting in the park in 1100.

The snowboarder Jo Chastney was born in Barton-on-Sea.
