David Haldane Lawrence (1940–2009) was an expert on the 19th century British theatre.
He was born in New Zealand, but lived most of his life in London. He worked for the British Library.
In 2006 he received a doctorate from Birkbeck for his work on the 19th century theatre: it is to be published under the title Diverse Performances.
