The Scottish Government is the devolved government for Scotland. It was established in 1999 as the Scottish Executive under section 44(1) of the Scotland Act 1998, which created a devolved administration for Scotland in line with the result of the 1997 referendum on Scottish devolution.[1] It was formally renamed in 2012 to the Scottish Government by section 12(1) of the Scotland Act 2012.[2]The government consists of cabinet secretaries (previously called ministers) and ministers (previously called deputy ministers). It is led by the First Minister, who selects the cabinet secretaries and ministers with approval of the Scottish Parliament.
The Scottish Executive Equality Unit was at one time a member of the LGBT Consortium:
- "The Scottish Executive Equality Unit works to mainstream equality across the work of the Scottish Executive, including policy and legislation."[3]
