Rhondda Cynon Taf is a county borough in south Wales. It was previously a major coal-mining area. The borough was created in 1996 by uniting three districts in the former county of Mid Glamorgan.

The main towns in Rhondda Cynon Taf include Aberdare, Pontypridd and Tonypandy.

LGBT history

The historian Jeffrey Weeks was born in Rhondda in 1945.

The Rhondda LGBT Support Network is an organisation set up by volunteers to help improve the lives of LGBT people living in Rhondda Cynon Taf.[1]
