South was an ITV play, shown in 1959, which is considered to be the first depiction of homosexuality on British television. It was based on a stage play by the gay American writer Julien Green, and starred Peter Wyngarde.

The play had been largely forgotten until it was discovered by the British Film Institute and shown at the London Lesbian & Gay Film Festival in 2013.[1]
