Walsall is a metropolitan borough in the West Midlands, centred on the Black Country town of the same name.

LGBT history

There was a Black Country / Walsall CHE group in the 1970s.

Women Against Anti-Social Persecution (WAASP) is "the voice for the lesbian, gay, bi-sexual and trans-gender community (LGBT), their families and friends".[1] According to Gay Times it has beern renamed "Walsall LGBT" and has a drop in/ resource centre, community room , access for the disabled,car park, etc.[2]

Walsall Pride was held for the first time in August 2012.[3]

In February 2013 the writer Fiona Shaw spoke at an LGBT History Month event at Walsall Central Library. Walsall Libraries are hoping to launch an LGBT reading group and make Fiona’s event an awareness session.[4]
