Kent is a county in south-east England. The county council area contains 12 districts:
- Ashford
- Canterbury
- Dartford
- Dover
- Gravesham
- Maidstone
- Sevenoaks
- Shepway
- Swale
- Thanet
- Tonbridge and Malling
- Tunbridge Wells
There is additionally a unitary authority, Medway.
LGBT History
The East Kent CHE Group was founded in 1971 and West Kent CHE Group in 1972. There were also CHE groups in Tunbridge Wells and Medway.
In 2003, following the repeal of Section 28, The Conservative-run Kent County Council decided to create their own version of Section 28 to keep the effect of the now repealed law in their schools.[1] This was replaced on 16 December 2004 with provisions stating that heterosexual marriage and family relationships are the only firm foundations for society.
Rainbow is Kent County Council’s LGBT staff group.
