Southend-on-Sea is a seaside resort on the north side of the Thames estuary. Since 1998 it has been a unitary authority within the ceremonial county of Essex. Southend Pier is said to be the longest in the world.LGBT history
There were a Southend CHE group and a Southend GLF in the 1970s.
In 1981 a new transvestite/ transexual group was formed with the inaugural meeting taking place in Southend-on-Sea [1]
The Cliff is said to be Southend's only gay pub.[2]
