Gravesend is a town in the Gravesham district of Kent, on the south bank of the Thames estuary.

LGBT history

The Anglo-American poet Thom Gunn was born there in 1929.

MWAH have been holding LGBT nights monthly at Whispers nightclub in Gravesend.[1]

In October 2011, Robert Jackson was jailed for breaking a man's jaw in a homophobic attack outside a nightclub in Gravesend, despite being gay himself. [2]
