Gaystars XI was a gay football team set up by Norman Redman in 1978. Team Captain was Roger Payne who lived in Sutton, Surrey [1].However, "serious gay sportsmen disliked the gimmicky show business image of Gay Stars [sic], and the club folded after a few months."[2]
