Stockport is a town and metropolitan borough in Greater Manchester. As well as Stockport itself, the borough includes a number of other towns including Cheadle and Cheadle Hulme. Stockport town was originally in Cheshire, but parts of the borough were originally in Lancashire. Stockport was known at one time for the manufacture of hats.LGBT history
