The county council area includes six districts:

Additionally, the Gloucestershire ceremonial county also includes a unitary authority, South Gloucestershire.

Policing in the county council area is provided by Gloucestershire Constabulary; South Gloucestershire is covered by Avon and Somerset Constabulary.

The Gloucestershire Gay and Lesbian Community is a friendly social group that welcomes people of all sexualities and ages.[1]

Gay Girls of Gloucestershire is a group for lesbians of all ages.[2]
