Appearance
Bloomsbury is an area of central London, within then London Borough of Camden. It was developed in the 17th and 18th centuries by the Russell family (Dukes of Bedford). Today it contains many institutions connected with London University, including the University of London Union (ULU), and the British Museum. It is noted for its many squares, laid out as public gardens, the biggest of which is Russell Square.
In the early 20th century, Bloomsbury was home to the Bloomsbury Group including Virginia Woolf, John Maynard Keynes, E M Forster and Lytton Strachey.
