Heath-Stubbs
Appearance
HEATH-STUBBS, John F. A. OBE FRSL FEA (1918-2006) Poet. He was brought-up in Barton-on-Sea and New Milton. Attended Bembridge School on the Isle of Wight and Queen's College, Oxford. All his life John was a divided personality - ensnared between the traditionalist Hampshire of his youth and the permissive Soho of his mature years. He hated the word 'gay' and preferred 'queer' (blissfully unaware of its recapture by the Left). Known for verse influenced by classical myths, and for the long Arthurian poem Artorius (1972).
