The Gay Sports Day is an annual light-hearted sports event in Vauxhall, held in the Vauxhall Pleasure Gardens, behind the Royal Vauxhall Tavern on August Bank Holiday. The event dates back to the 1980s, but from 2007 onwards it has been organised by the RVT together with the gay men's health charity, GMFA.[1]

The sports are a competition between teams of five players, in a variety of events, including:

  • tug of war
  • throwing the handbag
  • drag relay
  • spacehopper relay
  • egg and spoon race
  • 50 metre mince
  • sack race
  • rhythmic gymnastics.
