The Gay Sports Day is an annual light-hearted sports event in Vauxhall, held in the Vauxhall Pleasure Gardens, behind the Royal Vauxhall Tavern on August Bank Holiday. The event dates back to the 1980s,[1] but from 2007 onwards it has been organised by the RVT together with the gay men's health charity, GMFA.

The sports are a competition between teams of five players, in a variety of events, including:

  • tug of war
  • throwing the handbag
  • drag relay
  • spacehopper relay
  • egg and spoon race
  • 50 metre mince
  • sack race
  • rhythmic gymnastics.
