Camberwell Town Centre

Camberwell is a district within the London Borough of Southwark. The centre of Camberwell is home to King's College Hospital and the Maudsley (psychiatric) Hospital.

LGBT history

Local gay pubs have included the Union Tavern in Camberwell New Road and the Father Redcap in Camberwell Green.

In 1972, GLF had weekly meetings in the public library in Knatchbull Road.[1]

The Southwark Lambeth Area Gay Society began as a meeting in 1976 of the Southwark/Camberwell section of Lewisham CHE and met at the St Giles Centre in Camberwell Church Street, the Union Tavern and the Grove Tavern[2]
