Woolwich is an area of south London, originally in Kent. It was a separate metropolitan borough until it was absorbed into the London Borough of Greenwich (now the Royal Borough of Greenwich]]). It was at one time an important military and naval town, including the Woolwich Arsenal, Woolwich Dockyard, and Royal Military Academy.

Stella Duffy was born in Woolwich in 1963.
