The Customs House theatre

South Shields is a town in South Tyneside, Tyne and Wear, and previously in County Durham, at the mouth of the River Tyne.

LGBT history

Paul Patrick and Joe McElderry were born in South Shields and James Kirkup was brought up there.

In 2004 "The Pink Plaice" opened as the town's first gay nightclub.[1]
