International Coming Out Day (referred to in the USA as National Coming Out Day or NCOD) is celebrated on the 11th of October every year, mainly in the USA, but also to some extent in other parts of the world. It's a day when people are encouraged to come out as lesbian, gay, bisexual or transgender.[1]
NCOD was founded in 1988, to commemorate the anniversary of the 1987 National March on Washington for Lesbian and Gay Rights.[2]
