Jo Stanley

Jo Stanley (born 1949) is a British-based author and creative historian who focuses on women and LGBT seafarers. In January 2009 The Times named Hello Sailor! Gay Life at Sea, the traveling exhibition she co-curated for Merseyside Maritime Museum, as their number one exhibition. Her books have twice been in the top five Alternative Bestsellers List. They are translated and reviewed worldwide and her work is particularly influential in Scandinavia [1].
Her 2005 Ph.D. at Lancaster University’s Centre for Cultural Research is Wanted! Adventurous Girls. She has a Jo Stanley website: http://www.jostanley.biz.
