Broken Rainbow was a charity aiming to relieve the distress and suffering caused to lesbians, gay men, bisexual and trans (LGBT) people by domestic violence.

It was formed in in 2002 and became a registered charity in 2004.[1]

In June 2016 it was reported that Broken Rainbow had ceased trading.[2] The helpline on 0300 999 5428 was being taken over by Galop.[3]

Broken Rainbow helps:

  • LGBT people who experience homophobic, transphobic and same sex domestic violence
  • The wider LGBT communities
  • Friends and family of LGBT people
  • Agencies that support LGBT people
  • People who are responsible for domestic violence policy
  • Agencies involved with the survivors and perpetrators of those suffering from domestic violence

How Broken Rainbow helps

  • Running the only national LGBT-specific domestic violence helpline
  • Raising awareness of the impact of domestic violence on the lives of LGBT people
  • Giving information, advice and training to agencies that would like to help increase the physical safety and mental well-being of LGBT people who experience domestic violence.
