LGBT history

Oscar Wilde wrote The Importance of Being Earnest while staying in Worthing in 1894.[2]

The American gay activist Harry Hay was born in Worthing in 1912.

In 1976 Worthing Council rejected the opportunity for the town to host the CHE Annual Conference. [3].

Resurrection LGBT club nights have been held at Club ILLUSIONS Genesis, Railway approach.[4]
