Wikimedia Commons is an online database in Wiki form of images that are free for anyone to use. See the details on Wikimedia Commons itself for terms of use. In particular, the images are widely used on Wikipedia, but also on other Wikis, including this one. If you're creating an article on this Wiki, you can use any image from the Commons, just by quoting its filename.
There's a list of Wikimedia Commons images used on this Wiki (there are over 1,500 of them) at Special:WantedFiles where for technical reasons they are shown struck out.
