Neil Bartlett (born 1958) is a stage director, writer and translator.
He grew up in Chichester, and now lives in Brighton with his partner James Gardiner.[1]
His entry in the Pink List 2000 said:
- "Artistic director at the Lyric, Hammersmith, since 1994, Neil Bartlett is known for his innovation in translating classic French plays into English. This year he received an OBE. Recent hits include Eugene Labiche's The Threesome and Marivaux's The Dispute."[2]
His book Who Was That Man: A Present for Mr. Oscar Wilde (1988) shows how the gay history of London in the 1890s affects Bartlett's life as a gay man in London in the 1980s.
