Humanism, in current usage, means an approach to life based on human values, without belief in a god or in life after death.

LGBT history

Mary Whitehouse, in 1977, complained of the "humanist gay lobby". Such a lobby did not exist at the time, but her remarks led to the formation of the Gay Humanist Group, now the Gay and Lesbian Humanist Association (GALHA).
