Humberside was a former county in eastern England. It was created in 1974, including most of the East Riding of Yorkshire, a small part of the West Riding, and the northern part of Lincolnshire.

Despite the opening of the Humber Bridge in 1981, linking the two parts of the county together, the county proved unpopular, and was abolished in 1996. The northern part became the two unitary authorities of the East Riding of Yorkshire and Hull, and the southern part became the two unitary authorities of North Lincolnshire and North East Lincolnshire.

Humberside Police remains as the police force for the former county area.
