Paul Fairweather is a gay rights activist and former Labour councillor on Manchester City Council. In 1978, aged 21, he went to work for CHE in Manchester. In 2009 Fairweather took to the stage at Manchester Pride and declared in public his HIV positive status. He made the announcement to a silent crowd who were paying tribute to those who have lost their lives to the virus [1].
