St Michael's Guest House, located in St Michael's Road, Bournemouth, near the Triangle, was a small guest house operating in the 1980s with a more or less exclusively gay clientele.
When fire safety legislation required all bedroom doors to be self-closing, John, the proprietor, issued the guests with door-stops so that they could if they wished leave their doors open at night as an invitation.
