William MacDonald (born Allan Ginsberg, 1924) was a serial killer.[1]Born in Liverpool, he emigrated to Canada in 1949 and to Australia in 1955, where he changed his name to William MacDonald and frequented gay cruising places in Sydney.
Between 1961 and 1962 he stabbed and mutilated five men before being detected. At his trial he admitted the murders and described them in gruesome detail, pleading not guilty on the ground of insanity. He is currently in a maximum security hospital in Sydney and unlikely ever to be released.
