Lesbian Information Service was a research and information service for lesbians throughout the UK. It was set up by Jan Bridget and Sandra Lucille in 1987.Activities included: training, publications, research, information, and developing a research library on lesbian and gay health and social issues.
The Service ceased to operate in 1998 its website has been preserved (and archived via the UK Web Archive. The research library and archive is now available at Lancashire Records Office, Preston.
Jan Bridget went on to set up and run GALYIC (Gay and Lesbian Youth in Calderdale) as well as developing further on-line resources for the Department of Health.
