Taunton is the county town of Somerset and the main town within the Taunton Deane district.

LGBT history

The OutSet Festival is an LGBT arts festival based in Taunton.

The Somerset Lesbian Network meet in Taunton.[1]

Taunton Pride was held for the first time in August 2011.[2]

The 2BU group for young LGB people, now based in Taunton, began in 2003 as a youth group for gay lads in Wells.[3]

In February 2012 a Christian preacher, Michael Overd was cleared of verbally abusing two gay men during a sermon.[4]
