Andrew Muir is an Alliance Party politician. He represents the Hollywood area on North Down council. In 2013 he was elected Mayor of North Down, becoming the first openly gay mayor in Northern Ireland.[1]Interviewed in the Belfast Telegraph he said he had experienced “quite a significant amount of discrimination, harassment and violence” for being an openly gay politician.[2]
